I am excited for the new smart phones on the horizon and the features they will have, which will offer interesting options for running my blog and webpage. The iPhone 4 and the Droid X, both due to release this July, include new apps and features which have peaked my interest. Although I don’t currently use a Mac as my first choice for computing, I may start using Safari 5 as my browser to take advantage of these new features. One of the coolest features is that Safari 5 will eliminate some ads from articles, so that users can read just the details on a site without the distraction of some ads. This does not eliminate the ad from being displayed, but the article will “pop” out from the background into main focus. When I read about this feature, I thought “fantastic!” It’s about time I can view articles on the web without being assaulted by annoying herbal supplement ads. Also, the new Safari is going to support many html5 features, including geolocation and application caches. I know these features are just the tip of the iceberg, but I am really excited to see what I can do with the possibilities of html5 and Safari on the iPhone 4.
The other new phone that has me excited is the Droid X. With this phone, I could run my entire blog without my laptop. The features and apps that are available on this device will make running my business a snap. I can complete a job, take pictures, upload them to Photobucket, and then update my blog and any forums where I regularly post content. I can then notify friends and customers on Facebook and Twitter that new content is available for their viewing pleasure, all from my phone. Also, the endless stream of apps that flow for this phone will keep things exciting. I wonder how Android will answer to the ad elimination feature of Safari 5.
These are just a few of the interesting things this new technology will offer. Now my biggest problem is that these phones have not yet been released, and I will have to wait…but not long!
